Weimar-Umpferstedt Airfield lies directly on federal road B87, only minutes from the cultural city of Weimar. Pilots have been trained here since 1990 – today on modern ultralight aircraft that are quiet (below 60 dB), economical and equipped with a ballistic recovery system.
Visitors are welcome: watch the flying from our terrace over a cup of coffee.

Flight school under new management
From 1 December 2026, Weimar-Umpferstedt Airfield and its flight school are run by Sebastian Bube. Training continues without interruption – with the familiar aircraft, new faces at the airfield and the trial flight as the first step for everyone who has always wanted to fly.
Air law refresher course
What has changed in airspace, radio and flight preparation? This winter we are offering an air law refresher course for pilots of all licence types – one evening at the airfield, clearly explained, with time for your questions. Date and registration to follow shortly.
Fly-in in spring 2027
In spring 2027 we invite pilots from Thuringia and beyond to a fly-in at Weimar: land, have a coffee on the visitors' terrace, look at aircraft and get to know the airfield under new management. Guests without an aircraft are just as welcome. The exact date will be announced here in good time.
